MBABANE – FNB Eswatini has appointed Manqoba Shabangu as its new Treasurer, effective October 1, 2026, adding young leadership to the bank’s executive committee.

Shabangu brings experience across FNB Eswatini and the financial services sector, having first joined the bank in 2021 as Treasury Risk Manager before progressing to Assets and Liabilities Manager.

He returned to FNB Eswatini in 2025 as Funding and Liquidity Manager, a position in which he played a key role in strengthening the bank’s liquidity position, supporting liabilities growth and enhancing its Liquidity Contingency Plan.

In his new role, Shabangu will oversee the bank’s capital, funding and liquidity, while supporting regulatory compliance and the continued growth of its Treasury portfolio.

His appointment follows that of Mphetfo Tshabalala as Executive Head of Credit at FNB Eswatini, reflecting the bank’s elevation of young professionals into senior leadership positions.

Tshabalala’s career within FirstRand began at FNB South Africa before he joined FNB Eswatini in 2018 as Credit Manager. He subsequently became Head of Credit Risk and Analytics in 2020 before taking up the position of Head of Data and Analytics in 2023.

During his time at the bank, Tshabalala contributed to the introduction of scored lending solutions, including pre-approved credit limits aimed at improving access to credit and operational efficiency.

He also championed the Umkhaya Home Loan and established the bank’s first Data and Analytics Team, which has supported predictive modelling, customer churn reduction and product innovation.

FNB Eswatini recently concluded a rightsizing programme following a review of its operating model and organisational structure, which the bank said was intended to strengthen its long-term sustainability and position it for future growth.

In communicating the changes, the bank said customer services remained uninterrupted, with customers continuing to have full access to its branches, digital platforms and other banking channels.

FNB Eswatini reiterated its commitment to providing meaningful assistance to customers and contributing to the country’s economic growth and development.
