EZULWINI – Former Secretary General of the Swaziland Federation of Trade Unions (SFTU), Jabulani Nxumalo, has been appointed a member of the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) Board for the 2026–2029 term.

Nxumalo’s appointment was announced by Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi at SibaneSami Hotel, where the proposed composition of the new board was presented.

Nxumalo is among those representing the Swazi National Council, which means his appointment comes from national authorities. He holds a Diploma in Labour Studies and has experience in administration and conflict resolution.

He was also Boars Member of the Eswatini Bank and one of the founding members of Mangololo Eswatini.

The proposed board comprises representatives from government, employers and employees, reflecting the tripartite structure of stakeholder representation.

Chief Lukhwabitsi Dlamini will be chairperson, while Simon T. Khumalo will serve as vice-chairperson. Both appointments are new.

Other new members include Hlobisile Ndzimandze, representing the Ministry of Finance, while Tokky Hou, representing Business Eswatini, has retained her position on the Board.

Makhosini Mndzave, representing the Ministry of Labour, has also retained his position.

Kingdom Mamba, the Labour Commissioner, will continue serving as a Board member.

The employee representatives include Rodgers Wonder Mkhonza and Phila Cyril Mthethwa, representing the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA), as well as Phendulile Zikalala, representing the Federation of Eswatini Trade Unions (FESWATU). All three have retained their positions.

A further employer representative from Business Eswatini is expected to be named.

The proposed board membership reflects nominations from the tripartite partners to ensure balanced representation across key stakeholder groups.

The board’s composition brings together individuals with experience in labour relations, business administration, public policy, governance, finance and conflict resolution.

The proposed term of office runs from 2026 to 2029.

Meanwhile, the Minister said he was confident that the new Board would execute its duties expeditiously, especially because there had been a gap for too long.

He reminded them that His Majesty King Mswati III wants the assets of the SNPF to grow to E100 billon in the next few years.

He also asked them to work hard to ensure that the envisaged conversion of the Provident Fund to a pension fund is implemented soon.

The incoming Board Chairperson Chief Lukhwabitsi Dlamini thanked the appointing authorities and the minister for entrusting the with such an important assignment. He promised that they would hit the ground running and deliver on their mandate.
