MBABANE- Amid the ongoing cries raised by local creatives in different sectors in the country, Mbabane East Member of Parliament, Welcome Dlamini questioned the council’s mandate.
During a Parliament sitting on Thursday, Dlamini blasted the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture for failure to assist Ndoniyamanzi Luhlanga when she was supposed to perform overseas, after the CEO had said it would have been better if she was going there to perform traditional Swati dances.
In an interview with ENCAC CEO, Stanley Dlamini he had highlighted that his office was not solely responsible for Western Dances but that was for another department within the ministry.
The office of Arts and Culture has been facing backlash on social media lately from creatives due to their failure of support.
A lot of organisations have been born out of the frustration caused by the office of the Arts and Culture and local creatives insist they are doing a great job as their impact is felt and appreciated. One even made an example of Antidote Culture Foundation.
Responding to most of the social media posts, the CEO said it was important for locals to attend their summits and educate themselves on such topics, but they did not attend but came to raise concerns on social media.
