MBABANE – Eswatini-born poet Christian Maz, whose birth name is Phiwosihle Christian Maziya, is set to captivate South African audiences as he brings his one-man poetry show to Johannesburg.
The performance, which marks the third edition of his solo production, is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 2025 in Johannesburg Sandton, at the Onomo Hotel.
Maz mentioned that he is taking the third edition to South Africa to promote the widespread word of poetry on a broad level. The show, themed around ‘Something with Gold’, is framed as a resonant experience intended to uplift and inspire. According to Maz, the theme is designed “to remind everyone out there that they still have a portion of gold within them, no matter how dark the days are”. This commitment to messages of hope and inner resilience is characteristic of the poet’s work. He elaborated that this third edition signifies grace for him as he continues to grow in his career and now reaches an international audience.
At just 22 years old, Christian Maz has already established a significant presence in the spoken word community, particularly in his home country of Eswatini. He turned professional in 2020 and has gained recognition for addressing serious social issues, including gender-based violence and cultural dynamics, through his unique blend of poetry and commentary.
