MBABANE – The local creative sector saw a formal expansion on February 12 with the official soft launch of The Night Cap at the Mountain View Hotel.

The initiative, established as a recurring weekly residency, is designed to provide a consistent platform for upcoming artists to showcase their work and develop their professional profiles.

The event is a collaborative venture, spearheaded by four distinct entities: Only Make Waves, A Peculiar People, Leap Taxi and Shelela Gin. Following the successful launch, The Night Cap will transition into a permanent fixture taking place every Thursday night at Mountain View Hotel at their pool side terrace.

The structure of the event relies on the specific contributions of its founding partners. Only Make Waves and A Peculiar People lead the creative direction and artist curation, focusing on identifying talent across various genres.

According to Nakiso Dlamini, the Founder of Only Make Waves The Night Cap series is envisioned as a curated, networking and lifestyle platform that will bring together entrepreneurs, corporates, creatives, tourists, expatriates and lifestyle enthusiasts in a relaxed and yet purposeful setting of music, food and locally-inspired cocktails.

Dlamini mentioned that their main goal is to support emerging artists. “Hence in the posters, every week you will see names you have never seen, for the first month, we will be having selected artists performing consistently then after, we will rotate the line-up. Interested artists who may want to showcase their talent can contact Only Make Waves through their social media pages,” he said.

Dlamini noted that as Only Make Waves, they understand the hardships faced by upcoming artists while trying their way up, “I am a DJ and producer, I know the struggle of being out there and having the public see your work is real,” he said.
