Sometimes, the biggest step towards a healthier life is simply deciding that it is time to start. For Sekwenele Gamedze, that decision came in November 2025 when she realised that her weight was beginning to affect how she felt about herself and her health. At the time, she was wearing size 40 clothing and knew she needed to take action. “I decided it was time to make a positive change in my life by improving my health and fitness,” she says. Her motivation was not simply about fitting into smaller clothes. She wanted to feel healthier, stronger and more confident while taking control of her well-being before her weight could affect her quality of life.
She began incorporating strength training, cardio and functional workouts into her routine. The combination helped her burn fat, build strength, improve her fitness and increase her energy levels. The results have been significant. Gamedze has gone from wearing size 40 to size 34 and says she feels healthier, fitter and more confident than ever.

However, exercise has only been one part of her transformation. She has also made changes to the way she eats, focusing on balanced meals that include more vegetables, lean protein and fruits. She also makes an effort to drink plenty of water while cutting down on sugary and processed foods.
For her, healthy eating and regular exercise work hand in hand. “It has helped me lose weight, recover better after workouts and maintain my results,” she explained. While physical transformation can be inspiring, maintaining a fitness routine is often where the real challenge lies. Gamedze admits that there are days when she does not feel like going to the gym. Her solution is simple: Remind herself why she started. That mindset has helped her understand that progress does not have to be dramatic every day. Patience, discipline and self-belief have become important parts of her journey.
Her advice is to start where you are, set realistic goals and celebrate small achievements along the way. She also encourages people to remain consistent, combine exercise with healthy eating and surround themselves with people who support their goals. Sekwenele Gamedze’s journey is a reminder that transformation does not happen overnight. It starts with a decision, followed by small choices repeated consistently. At just 24 years old, she has already discovered that investing in her health is one of the most valuable commitments she can make to herself.
