EZULWINI – The main day of the Swazi Boy 20th anniversary celebration left fans yearning for more as organisers served up a heated line-up.
The event began slowly as it was billed as a daytime show running through to the morning. Local artists kept the atmosphere relaxed, serving up various music genres to accommodate every taste.
The venue started filling up after 8pm as fans arrived to catch their favourite acts.
One of the night’s key highlights was the headlining performance. South Africa’s DJ Zinhle took to the decks and sent the crowd wild. Her set featured a mix of her classic hit records alongside her latest release featuring Young Stunna.
DJ Zinhle also brought her ERA pop-up stall to the venue, where attendees queued up to buy merchandise throughout the night. The artist highlighted that the expansion of her lifestyle brand remains a major milestone.
“ We’re building the brand to grow it and it’s obviously not easy to, you know, get it across the border most of the times, but we worked a lot with Swazi Boy and they helped us out to make sure that it got here and hopefully this is the beginning of new things and new access,” she said.
She added that seeing the crowd embrace her new material was deeply rewarding. “Because we’ve got young artists in the house that we’re trying to develop and just to see that the work we’ve been putting in is actually making sense, because you could work the whole time and not get anything, but I’m very passionate about helping the boys, about setting them up and I feel like this is a good side also, to just make people understand that we’ve got something to offer, so I think we’ve got the industry respect now so we can make more music with the boys,” she said.
…Gwayimane proves to be Swati gold
Iconic duo Siyinqaba proved they still possess their signature flair, sending the crowd into frenzy with their classic hit ‘Gwayimane’. The pair opened their set with a smooth rendition of ‘Lutsandvo’ featuring Floewe, drawing an energetic response from the audience. Before leaving the stage, their performance of ‘Gwayimane’ stole the spotlight and transformed the venue into a massive sing-along.
Local performers Lyrikal Busta and Ncwiki Flex also delivered standout sets. Lyrikal Busta performed ‘KaKhoza’, with the crowd chanting every word of the popular single.
The night proved that the kingdom’s music scene continues to thrive. Swazi Boy marked two decades of entertainment in memorable fashion, blending regional megastars with home-grown talent. As the music echoed into the early hours, fans departed already looking forward to the collective’s next milestone.
