MBABANE – Oracle Insurance and Oracle Life have reported a significant improvement in financial performance, with combined revenue increasing to E202.6 million for the six months ended August 31, 2026.
This comes as their parent company, Vunani Limited, seeks to expand its operations into additional markets, including Eswatini.
The insurance businesses recorded revenue of E202.6 million, up from E134.8 million in the corresponding period in 2025. Profit rose sharply to E30.7 million from E3.3 million in the previous year, reflecting stronger results as the businesses continue to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Vunani Limited, the post-COVID operating environment has largely stabilised, allowing the insurance businesses to begin generating stronger results. The next objective is to explore opportunities for expansion into additional jurisdictions where feasible.
The development comes as Vunani, a financial services group listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and A2X, reported improved financial results for the first half of its financial year.
Group revenue and insurance revenue increased by 29 per cent, from E356.6 million in the six months ended August 31, 2025, to E459.7 million in the period under review.
Total operating profit more than doubled to E87.4 million from E41.9 million, while total comprehensive income increased to E50.2 million from E25.2 million.
Profit attributable to the company’s equity holders also rose, reaching E28.8 million compared with E15.3 million in the previous corresponding period.
Vunani Chief Executive Officer Ethan Dube said the group had delivered a strong performance despite operating in an environment characterised by geopolitical uncertainty, market volatility and global economic pressures.
“Notwithstanding a challenging operating environment characterised by geopolitical uncertainty, market volatility and global economic pressures, Vunani delivered a strong performance during the first half of its financial year,” Dube said.
He noted that volatility had intensified towards the end of the reporting period because of the conflict in the Middle East and shifting geopolitical dynamics.
However, the group continued implementing its strategy and achieved improved financial results.
Vunani said it remained committed to growing its assets under management in South Africa and selected regional markets.
In Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini, the group has secured the necessary licences and is in the process of establishing operations.
This places Eswatini among the regional markets in which Vunani is preparing to strengthen its presence as it pursues growth beyond South Africa.
Botswana, meanwhile, has an established operation with a strong focus on the retail market. Management intends to continue pursuing growth opportunities in that market.
The group’s regional expansion strategy is complemented by efforts to increase assets under management through acquisitions and organic growth.
