MBABANE – Former Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs star midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase stole the spotlight today during a pulsating MTN Premier League week five encounter against Madlenya staged at Killarney Sports Ground.
Ntshangase scored the lone goal of the match to mark his first strike since arriving in Eswatini, where the league’s top goalscorer is guaranteed a revised E15 000 prize this new season. The victory places South African businessman Chief Ally Kgomongwe’s club, Amawele, on nine points after securing their third win of the campaign. Kgomongwe recently took the helm from Thando ‘Mangoza’ Shabangu.
This latest triumph follows a 1-0 victory over Pigg’s Peak Professionals last week Friday, courtesy of a goal from Melusi ‘Megar’ Magagula. Amawele’s first win came against Celtics on 9 October, when another South African recruit, Sibusiso Mokiti, registered his first goal in the league after joining from Limpopo ABC Motsepe League outfit FC SK.
Ntshangase’s strike marks a triumphant return to action after a three-year hiatus from professional football. He joined Amawele from SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Mohlabile United, following a brief stint with Makotopong Bahumi in the same division last season. He becomes the latest South African addition to the squad, following in the footsteps of compatriots Aichel Calane and Junior Letwaba.
Currently, Eswatini boasts two clubs under the leadership of South African nationals. The other is led by flamboyant businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize, whose Mbabane Highlanders AM hope to rebound from two recent setbacks when they face Pigg’s Peak Professionals on Sunday. South African tactician Floyd ‘Mourinho’ Mogale recently parted ways with the club.
