MBABANE – Lesotho will be searching for a historic victory tomorrow when they take on Eswatini in the Tri-Nation Rugby Cup.
The two sides raise the curtain on the second edition of the BOLESWA Tri-Nation Cup, a week-long tournament that also includes Botswana. Kick-off is at 2pm at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground in Mbabane tomorrow, Saturday, October 24.
According to the Federation of Lesotho Rugby, Likotola are chasing their first win on foreign soil in seven years. They claimed the inaugural title last year on home ground, beating Sizeze 37-12, and will look to break their away jinx against the Eswatini side they also beat last year.
Both teams trained at lunchtime today at the Prince of Wales ahead of the game.
Likotola field a squad that includes 17-year-old Siyabonga Lekhooana and is led by veteran Mothepu Mokhothu of the Lesotho Rugby Academy. The side is coached by Khauhelo Raphepheng, assisted by strength and conditioning specialist and former player Liteboho Mahase.
On the other hand, Sizeze have named a 29-man squad for the tournament. Coaches Andre Muller and Thando Shongwe are aiming to keep the cup on home soil, with forward Mcebo Ngwenya captaining the side.
