MBABANE – Eswatini international Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido has once again caught the eye of Betway Premiership side Chippa United.
According to iDiski Times, the ‘Chilli Boys’ have reportedly set their sights on the Sihlangu winger.
Adding intrigue to the potential move, the publication also revealed that Chippa have brought in Figuareido’s former coach, Sinethemba Badela, as their new manager.
Badela previously managed Figuareido during his loan spell at the now-defunct Cape Town All Stars, where the player was on loan from TS Galaxy.
During their time together, Badela held Figuareido in high regard. The former Denver Sundowns player made a significant impact under Badela’s guidance, netting four goals and providing four assists for ‘Igugu leKapa’, as All Stars are fondly known.
confirmed
Figuareido was subsequently recalled by his parent club, TS Galaxy, a move confirmed by Badela at the time.
His impressive performances in South Africa’s second tier during the 2021/2022 season garnered interest from several DStv Premiership clubs, including Chippa United. However, he ultimately opted to sign for Richards Bay.
Now, iDiski Times reports that Chippa have rekindled their interest in the player, with discussions said to be at an advanced stage.
“Chippa are in advanced talks with the Natal Rich Boys for striker Figuareido, and they are expected to pay an undisclosed transfer fee,” iDiski Times stated.
The publication further indicated that personal terms are not anticipated to be an issue, suggesting that if a club-to-club agreement is finalised, a medical examination would be the next step.
