MBABANE – With the loud cheers and excitement of the game all around, two local players met for the first time in 2014.
Young Buffaloes attacking midfielder Ali Matse and Green Mamba forward Nonhle Simelane (now Matse) have been weaving magic on the pitch. Regardless, their greatest triumph is off it. This soccer power couple, after years of honing their skills and navigating challenges, have finally scored a love match that is as strategic and passionate as their game.
For these two, love is more than just a feeling; it is a carefully played match, full of teamwork, resilience and unwavering support through life’s highs and lows. The Duze High School sweethearts were doing Form III and Form II, respectively, when they first met and decided on a future together.
“I wanted to be different from other soccer players,” Matse said. Soccer players are often stereotyped to be heartbreakers.
Meanwhile, his wife expressed gratitude to him for sticking by her side through thick and thin.
“I am grateful that my husband remained committed to our relationship,” she said.
The two former Manzini Wanderers stars sealed their partnership in a stunning traditional ceremony two days ago, celebrating not just their union, but the ultimate goal of lasting happiness together.
