MBABANE – The Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs has rejected a proposal to organise a festival, as outlined in their first quarter budget performance report for 2025/2026, dated July 2025.
The request was made by Ntfonjeni MP Raymond Dlamini, who asked whether the ministry could create and develop its own major events, such as MTN Bushfire and the Luju Festival.
The ministry responded, stating that its focus is on fostering an environment in which the private sector can flourish. “At best, the government partners with the private sector in a private-public partnership (PPP) to tap into private sector efficiency and productivity, enhanced competition, attraction of foreign investment and a reduced fiscal burden on the government. To that end, the government takes the view to avoid crowding out and competing with the private sector and recognises efficiency gains on activities when left to the private sector in that they are best delivered efficiently and in an accountable manner,” the report read.
