MBABANE – The Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC) has taken a major step towards improving wastewater management in the Shiselweni Region.
The utility has announced the intention to award the E13.1 million contract for the rehabilitation of the Nhlangano Wastewater Treatment Plant to SLS/TFC Joint Venture (JV), a Swati-led consortium.
The contract award follows a competitive procurement process, conducted in accordance with the Public Procurement Act No. 7 of 2011 and was approved by the EWSC Tender Board.
SLS/TFC JV emerged as the best-evaluated responsive tenderer with a technical and financial evaluation score of 95 per cent.
The contract price stands at E13 103 674.38, inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) and the Construction Industry Council (CIC) levy. The JV’s Swati nationality aligns with ongoing efforts to promote local participation in public procurement and infrastructure development.
The rehabilitation project is expected to improve wastewater treatment capacity in Nhlangano, where aging infrastructure has limited EWSC’s ability to meet growing service demands and environmental standards.
Four other Swati companies submitted bids for the project but were not successful.
