MBABANE – Eswatini’s most prestigious golf tournament, the King’s Cup, comes with an exciting purse for local golfers.
This was revealed by the Tournament Director (TD), Vusi Dlamini. He was speaking during the official launch of the tournament staged at the luxurious Hilton Garden Inn yesterday morning. The tournament will run in the period September 10-14, 2025.
His Majesty King Mswati III will host a gala dinner at a venue yet to be confirmed on September 12.
“When we told His Majesty that the winner would get E166 000 for first place last year, he was delighted. He expressed his happiness saying it is only a matter of time before the winner is awarded E200 000. So this year we are acknowledging his plea and concerns. We have concluded that the winner of this year’s main tournament scheduled from September 13 will be rewarded E240 000,”Dlamini said.
He further revealed that E135 000 has been allocated to the pre-qualifier tournament scheduled for this weekend at Ezulwini Golf Course.
“The winner of the King’s Cup pre-qualifier is guaranteed the same amount of prize money as Brandon Rennie, who won the FNB Golf Challenge pre-qualifiers. This is to ensure a consistent standard between the two tournaments,” he added.
Rennie secured E20 000 for winning the pre-qualifiers. Dlamini also revealed a projected E3 million package for this year’s edition.
