MBABANE – South African actress Maumela Mahuwa, popularly known as Susan Mukwevho on the popular soap opera Muvhango, has shown interest in the local film industry.
Born in Gogobole Sinthumule, Limpopo, Mahuwa is a household name in South Africa. She has played the iconic role of Susan on the popular soap opera Muvhango since its inception in 1997, becoming an integral part of the Mukwevho family.
She has been in the kingdom for several days. During an interview, she spoke about her experience visiting the country.
“I was here for the Pan-African Board and then I got to see Umhlanga. Wow, it was a beautiful experience and I got to meet a lot of people. I was humbled by how loving Eswatini people are. I have been here since Monday,” she said.
When asked if she would like to explore her film expertise in the kingdom, she shared that she is interested.
“I actually asked somebody about television and they told me it is a good ground to start planting seeds. I am quite interested and I have a film school. I can either bring the school here or bring workshops if allowed so that students can study the production of films.
These kinds of things are needed to keep children out of the streets.
