MBABANE – Following the alleged resignation of Manzini Wanderers Director, Mlamuli Mabuza, former long-serving Director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini is reportedly set to take the helm.
Mabuza had assumed the hot seat at the hub giants barely three months ago after former Director Wellington Motsa stepped aside. Mabuza’s tenure was brief, making him the first director to quit his position during the local 2025/26 season.
The reasons for the former Kubuta Member of Parliament’s (MP) departure have not been officially disclosed, but there had been reportedly escalating tensions within the club.
Following Wanderers’ crushing 4-0 defeat by Manzini Sea Birds last weekend, sources suggest tensions peaked, leading to the National Supporters Committee (NSC) holding a meeting where they allegedly resolved against Mabuza’s leadership.
Consequently, Mabuza has reportedly walked out of the camp of the team led by Gcina Dlamini. Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mongi Mabuza said the news had reached his office but stated that the Council of Elders would release who is expected to guide the team going forward.
However, sources allege that ‘Chief’ is expected to return to the club after stepping down three seasons ago. He had resigned after holding an administrative position with the team for around 20 years. Similar to Mabuza, he stepped down, following a chain of poor results by the ‘Weslains’. Reached for comment, ‘Chief’ referred all queries to the Council of Elders. However, Director Mabuza said he was still locked in a business meeting when called to ascertain the reasons for his sudden resignation.

MBABANE – Wanderers Head Coach Gcina Dlamini, insists the club will remain focused despite finally recording their first victory of the season.
The ‘Weslians’ secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Ubombo Sugar on Thursday, earning their first three points of the 2025/26 MTN Premier League campaign after five attempts. “These points motivate us, and we also managed to record our first clean sheet. I believe we deserved something from the game, but it’s still work in progress, and we won’t be carried away by this win,” Dlamini stated during his post-match comments at Mayaluka Stadium.
He added that the points serve as motivation to work harder, as there are still areas that need improvement in their game. Wanderers’ next fixture will be against newcomers, Tabankulu Celtics, who have quickly earned a reputation as giant-slayers after recording shock and convincing wins against defending champions Nsingizini Hotspurs and last season’s runners-up, Royal Leopard.
Meanwhile, Ubombo Sugar Coach, Van Rooyen Magagula, lamented conceding what he called a cheap goal due to a lapse in concentration. He confirmed his side would return to the drawing board to correct their mistakes ahead of their next fixture against rookies, Amawele.
