MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers first-choice goalkeeper Fisokuhle Shongwe will be out for a maximum of three weeks.
The shot-stopper was involved in a nasty collision against a player from Amawele’s side. He was rendered unconscious and had to be transported to the Mbabane Government Hospital by an official.
During his stint in between the sticks in their away fixture to Amawele at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground, Shongwe had kept a clean sheet, while his side had a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Meanwhile, the Manzini Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mongi Simelane was contacted, where he shared an update on the player.
“He was admitted at Mbabane and there were no major concerns as per the doctors’ response when we enquired. The doctor stated that he won’t be able to play for two to three weeks,” revealed Simelane.
Shongwe experienced the knock to his head, which is why he became unconscious, but as confirmed by Simelane and the doctors, the player was prescribed to rest more, which will be sufficient time for him to return to his self and perform.
“On Sunday, he was discharged and he returned to the clubhouse, where the doctors said he needs to rest,” added Simelane.
On the other hand, the Manzini hub giant’s PRO was quizzed on circulating reports of their Head Coach, Gcina Dlamini exiting the club, with just a few games at the helm.
“I haven’t heard anything; I can only confirm once I know something,” concluded Simelane.
It is also worth noting that the club has returned to their clubhouse after being momentarily locked out, where the likes of Shongwe were back as early as Sunday after being discharged.
Moreover, in Manzini Wanderers’ return to the pitch, it has been nothing but a bittersweet moment as in eight games played, the hub giants only managed one victory over Sisonkhe, which they are deadlocked on five points with at the bottom of the standings.
