MTN Premier League outfit Ezulwini United have moved swiftly to quash mounting speculation regarding the future of first-choice goalkeeper Siyabonga ‘Gabhadiya’ Magagula, categorically denying claims that the player is set to depart.
Following a wave of reports on social media suggesting an imminent exit, the club’s management has broken its silence to reassure supporters that the shot-stopper remains a vital part of their squad.
A source close to the matter had previously alleged that Magagula was considering leaving the Musa Manyatsi-led outfit during the upcoming January transfer window. According to a circular from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), the second registration period is scheduled to open on January 8, 2026 and close on February 2, 2026.
“The player did not attend the club’s end-of-year party at Mdzimba View on Monday, which confirms his desire to leave Ezulwini United,” the source claimed.
However, ‘The Stingers’ Public Relations Officer, Sonkhe Kuhlase, has refuted allegations that their number-one goalkeeper is on the verge of an exit.
“Although I did not attend the event at Mdzimba View, what I can say is that Siyabonga is our player, and we discussed this issue with him on Tuesday,” Kuhlase stated.
He further revealed that the player denied posting any such claims or engaging with anyone on the matter, alleging instead that an unauthorised person had used his phone to post the departure rumours.“I believe these are stunts designed to derail our focus, especially as the team is currently performing well in the league,” Dlamini added.
‘The Stingers’ are currently enjoying a strong run, sitting third in the 2025/26 MTN Premier League table after suffering only two defeats so far this season.
