MBABANE – It is in the hands of the supporters!
This is the proposed 2026 PLE Charity Cup by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) in partnership with Skyfly, which is set to kick off the 2026/27 football season.
This was revealed by the PLE Chairman, Polycarp Dlamini, in an event which was attended by his executive, clubs representatives and Skyfly Managing Director (MD) Musa Dlamini at Sigwaca House yesterday.
“We are excited to launch the PLE Charity Cup as it’s been a while since we last had such a tournament after the MoMo Cup. We didn’t sit down after it pulled out as we engaged Skyfly for the PLE Charity Cup,” Dlamini said.
He said the voting by the supporters will give them the direction so that they can then engage prospective sponsors. “The power to have the Charity Cup is within the clubs or supporters. We therefore invite the business world to partner with the PLE and we won’t judge how much they should inject,” he said.
The chairman added that the proceeds from the tournament will be channelled to charity organisations as the PLE’s social responsibility.
Meanwhile, the Skyfly MD said they are excited to partner with the PLE to bring back the Charity Cup.
“This is not all about the PLE or clubs, but to help those who are needy and elderly,” Musa said.
He said for the clubs to play in the tournament, supporters will have to vote and they will also use community outreach to drive the voting.
