MBABANE — Popular content creator Bongiwe Dlamini and entertainer Linda ‘Inceku’ Mtsetfwa have left fans in stitches and disappointment, respectively, after throwing in the towel inside the ‘squared circle’ today.
The duo featured in the explosive Embiveni Biggest Braai Exhibition Bouts at the Mavuso Sports Centre. The action-packed event is set to wrap up tomorrow morning, Sunday, July 26, 2026, following a full night of entertainment after beginning earlier today with braais.
The much-anticipated bouts saw Dlamini pull off a dramatic escape, literally jumping out and fleeing the ring after absorbing a barrage of heavy leather from defending women’s exhibition champion Thulile Dlamini. Thulile was then awarded the victory for the third consecutive time, clinching the E3 000 winner-takes-all prize courtesy of Swazi House Motors.
Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) President, Webster Lukhele, retrieved the gloves from the debutant who ran about 30 metres not even looking back and relayed her apologies to the crowd, explaining that she said she had fallen short of adequate preparation.
Ironically, Dlamini had earlier said she put in three weeks of intensive training ahead of the clash.
Meanwhile, the comedy headliner fight between ‘Shodi’ and ‘Inceku’ was a lightning-fast re-rematch. The bout lasted less than 30 seconds before ‘Inceku’ threw in the towel, wincing in pain due to dental work he underwent last year.
‘Inceku’, who was a favourite with the crowd, offered his apologies after the fight, admitting he misjudged his recovery time when accepting the challenge.
Despite the explanation, the spectators let out their dissatisfaction, voicing with the abrupt finish. The stoppage handed ‘Shodi’ the championship and a E2 000 purse, while the runner-up walked away with a E1 000 consolation prize courtesy of Instacash.
Other preliminary bouts that set the ring alight included a fiery collision between ‘Magongo the Comedian’ and debutant ‘King Mora’. It was a barnburner of a fight that went to the judges’ scorecards, ending 3-2 in favour of Magongo.
In the first bout which featured heavily backed ‘Pepe’ boxed his way to a 4-1 points victory over ‘Ali-Group’. Alongside the win, Pepe secured a E2 000 prize, in addition to the bonus prize staked for the bout.
