…for the inaugural FNB Eswatini junior golf day
MBABANE – At least 30 young golfers from across Eswatini have been selected to participate in the first-of-its-kind FNB Eswatini Junior Golf Day.
The event will be held on Tuesday at MTN Golf Park in Ezulwini. The Junior Golf Day is one of the newest additions to this year’s FNB Eswatini Challenge, which will be hosted in the period August 13-15 at the Ezulwini Golf and Country Club. The bank has confirmed that, working with the Eswatini Golfing Union (EGU), 30 young emaSwati between the ages of eight and 18 have been selected to take part in the one-day event and will play and learn from six professional golfers who are part of the Sunshine Tour. According to FNB’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Sibusile Dlamini, the Junior Golf Day reflects the bank’s commitment to growing golf in Eswatini. “We are really excited about Junior Golf Day because it perfectly aligns with our theme for the year: Help is for Everyone. By bringing to Ezulwini these 30 young golf stars from across Eswatini, we are underscoring our dedication to expanding our help to reach all corners of Eswatini. This is why we wanted to prioritise the participation of children from underserved communities in this initiative and we are excited that children from areas such as Sihhoye, Manjengeni and Ludzeludze will take part. We look forward to our young stars interacting and learning as much as they can from the professionals on the day and going back home with lifelong memories,” she said.
Meanwhile, EGU Vice President Wandile Simelane said the organisation was delighted to partner with FNB Eswatini in delivering the Junior Golf Day. “This initiative will have a profound, long-term impact on the development of the sport across the kingdom by creating direct access to coaching and dedicated mentorship from professional golfers. Beyond just learning the game, it creates a vital platform where youth, regardless of their background, are given a fair chance to swing, learn and dream. The EGU is actively working towards expanding access to golf at every stage, building a seamless pipeline from absolute beginner levels up to elite amateur play. Initiatives like the FNB Junior Golf Day serve as the essential foundation for this long-term athlete development pathway,” he said.
In July, FNB Eswatini and the Sunshine Tour unveiled a record-breaking E2.5 million prize pool for the 2026 FNB Eswatini Challenge. The main leg of the tournament will take place between next Thursday and Friday and will be preceded by a two-day client Pro-Am, in which the bank’s clients and stakeholders will play with selected professional golfers. A total of 15 emaSwati will take part in this year’s Challenge, with FNB Eswatini, as it did last year, setting aside E60 000 to recognise the three best performing locals in the main tournament.
