MBABANE – India’s outgoing High Commissioner leaves Eswatini with the proposed Parliament Building project still waiting to become a reality.

Prime Minister (PM) Russell Mmiso Dlamini bid farewell to the outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Eswatini, N. Ram Prasad, at the Private and Cabinet Office today.

During the farewell meeting, Dlamini acknowledged that the proposed Parliament Building project had not materialised during Ram Prasad’s tenure.

The PM said Ram Prasad had expressed hope that his successor would continue advancing the project until it becomes a reality.

The acknowledgement places the long-awaited Parliament Building among the outstanding areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Dlamini also highlighted the strong and enduring friendship between Eswatini and India, particularly in education.

He noted that many emaSwati had benefited from scholarships and training opportunities provided by the Government of India.

The premier described these opportunities as an important contribution to strengthening cooperation between Eswatini and India.

Dlamini expressed appreciation to Ram Prasad for his service and contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.

He also wished the outgoing High Commissioner success in his future endeavours.

The meeting marked the end of Ram Prasad’s tenure as India’s representative in Eswatini, with the proposed Parliament Building project remaining unfinished.

The PM expressed hope that the project would continue to receive attention under the incoming High Commissioner.
