MBABANE – “The supporters in our last meeting gave us a mandate to pursue the matter to court or simply stop the team from playing for a season.”
These were the words of Mbabane Swallows (PTY) Limited Spokesperson Vusi Sibisi when addressing the media at Madlenya House on Tuesday. The media briefing was called by the Chairman of the PTY faction, Bongani Dlamini, reacting to claims by ‘Birds’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya that the PTY Limited faction had once again requested a sit-down with the Mbabane Swallows management.
The chairman refuted the assertions made by the award-winning PRO on the Voice of the Church (VOC) Sports Show hosted by Thabiso Shabangu that the PTY side initiated the dialogue. “The supporters in our last meeting, which was held at MDS, gave us a mandate to pursue the matter to court or simply stop the team from playing for a season,” Sibisi said.
He was then quizzed on the PTY Limited faction’s plan, should the current management surrender the team to them. He revealed that they have grand plans including capital to finance it. “I cannot go into details of the plans yet, but once everything is done, we will communicate it,” he said.
He also highlighted that as Mbabane Swallows PTY Limited, their main goal is to professionalise the club.
“Our principle is not to involve the media, but we are triggered by the current management,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dlamini refuted the assertions made by the PRO on the VOC Sports Show that the PTY side initiated the dialogue. “I only called him as a concerned supporter after reading in the news that key players were leaving,” Dlamini said.
On the other hand, Ngwenya said he stands by his words that Dlamini requested a meeting with them. He revealed that Dlamini called him and, as they were talking, requested to add his Chairman Welile Mabuza, but he declined. “I then informed the management that the PTY side wants to meet us and they agreed. I then reverted to him and requested to hear from him the agenda, tentative date, convenient time and neutral venue,” Ngwenya said.
He stated that once that is done, he will then engage the Board, the management committee (MC) and relevant officials for final logistics of the proposed meeting. Ngwenya, when reacting to the freezing of the club, said they should continue, but informed them that they have a court judgment.
If they are not happy with the High Court judgment, they should file an appeal to the Supreme Court,” he said. Reacting to allegations by the PTY faction that management is failing to meet supporters, Ngwenya stated that calling a supporters’ meeting would be a risky move in the current situation faced by the club.
Dlamini could not be reached for comments on Ngwenya’s statement, as his phone rang unanswered by the time this report was compiled. The FC faction, led by Absalom ‘Mvana’ Ngwenya maintains that the governance structure was legally settled by the High Court.

High Court ruling granted Mbabane Swallows FC 100 per cent ownership rights to run the team. ‘Mvana’ stated that the club was never the private property of late Chairman Victor Gamedze and challenged the PTY faction to test their claims in higher courts if aggrieved.
The current management committee (MC) continues to handle operational preparations for the season while looking to secure new investors amid boardroom distractions. The PTY faction does not recognise the current management’s claims as final and remains engaged in legal proceedings to establish corporate ownership. The National Supporters Committee (NSC) has also been drawn into mediation discussions as fans push for a resolution to prevent further damage to potential sponsorship deals
