MBABANE – Eswatini video match official Letticia Viana has earned another continental appointment.

Viana has been selected for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, scheduled for November 1 to 15.  She is among the video match officials named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the competition, adding to an impressive list of international assignments she has handled this year.

The appointment follows her participation in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, where she earned eight assignments, serving as both Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and Assistant Video Assistant Referee (AVAR).

Her assignments at the global tournament included group-stage matches and the semi-final between Italy and Spain, where she served as the Support Video Assistant Referee.

Earlier this year, Viana also officiated at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. She was appointed as the second assistant VAR for the final between Cameroon and Malawi on August 16.

Her continental achievements also include serving as an assistant VAR during the men’s Africa Cup of Nations final in January, when Senegal faced Morocco.

Viana has been nominated alongside several well-known officials from across Africa, including South Africa’s Akhona Zennith Makalima, Zambia’s Diana Chikotesha, Cameroon’s Carine Atezambong and Malawi’s Eness Gumbo.

The appointments also feature former international referee Janny Sikazwe of Zambia, who is among the instructors, alongside Morocco’s Mohamed Guezzar and Egypt’s Hayam Baraka.

The tournament’s officiating team includes referees, video match officials, assessors, instructors and CAF staff drawn from different African countries.

Viana’s latest appointment ensures Eswatini is represented among the officials entrusted with overseeing matches at Africa’s premier women’s club football competition.
