DAKAR – Team Eswatini athletes received words of encouragement from the country’s Olympic leadership during a special dinner hosted by the EOCGA President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa on Thursday.
The dinner provided an opportunity for dignitaries to meet the delegation and motivate the athletes as they continue representing the country at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal.
The President welcomed the entire team to Dakar and acknowledged their safe journey from Eswatini, according to EOCGA CEO Maxwell Jele.
He also congratulated swimmer Luca Fraser on his performances, particularly the personal best times he recorded in the pool.
Fraser completed his three events at the Games, competing in the 200m, 100m and 50m breaststroke. He clocked 2:32.05 in the 200m to finish 10th overall, improving his personal best by two seconds. He recorded 1:09.17 in the 100m before setting another personal best of 30.66 seconds in the 50m breaststroke.

The President also wished the remaining two athletes, sprinter Knowledge Mkhwanazi and taekwondo fighter Simisile Thwala, well ahead of their upcoming events. Mkhwanazi is set to compete in the 100m on Sunday, November 8, while Thwala will represent Eswatini in the under-55kg taekwondo category on Tuesday, November 10.
Mthethwa further appreciated the efforts and guidance of the coaching staff and noted the positive reaction from home following the team’s performances.
The dinner served as a morale boost for the delegation as Eswatini’s campaign continues in Dakar.
