MBABANE – The country has been robbed of yet another football legend following the death of former Manzini Wanderers striker and assistant Coach Clement ‘King Clay’ Mdluli.

The former Tambuti FC coach reportedly passed away on Tuesday afternoon. A source close to the Mdluli family revealed that the former national team Sihlangu forward died from stroke he had been battling for almost four months while admitted to The Luke Commission in Sidvokodvo.

“We are shocked by the death of King Clay, as we were hoping he would recover from the stroke,” the source said.

The legend’s passing was confirmed by his younger brother, John ‘Shisa Junior’ Mdluli, also a Manzini Wanderers legend.

“Yes, it is true that my brother passed away this past Tuesday afternoon. He had a stroke, which eventually claimed his life,” the former Hapoel Jerusalem player said.

‘Shisa Junior’ added that the family has yet to meet to discuss the former Milling Hot Spurs coach’s funeral logistics.

“We will communicate the funeral arrangements in due course,” he said.

Meanwhile, a former teammate of the late ‘King Clay’ at the maroon and white hub giants said they were shocked by his death, which came shortly after the passing of his wife last Saturday.
