MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers, the MTN Premier League giants, face a major blow, as they prepare for their league opener this weekend.

Captain Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule will be out for an estimated three weeks due to an injury. The news comes as a major hurdle for the maroon and white hub giants, who are finally set to make their official league appearance after spending the entire 2024/25 season away from competitive football.

Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mongi Simelane confirmed that the squad is otherwise ready and morale is high ahead of their derby clash against city rivals Moneni Pirates this Saturday at the Mavuso Sports Centre.

“The only challenge we face is that of our Skipper ‘Mlaba,’ who is still nursing the injury he sustained during the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup match against Green Mamba,” Simelane said.

“I think he will be back after three weeks, but the team is ready and the spirit is high at training.”

It is worth noting that the ‘Weslians’ did not participate in the previous season, which was won by Nsingizini Hotspurs, as they were fighting to retain their MTN Premier League status in court.
