MBABANE – Eswatini international Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido’s high rating reflects a major twist.

The talisman witnessed a meteoric rise with his value soaring to about E10 million (500 000 Euros) in March this year. At this time, he was still contracted to Richards Bay before switching to Betway Premiership side Chippa United in August. With less than five months since arrival, his value reveals a significant drop to slightly above E7.8 million, which equates to 400 000 Euros as per yesterday’s exchange rate. This portrays a difference of at least E2 million as per transfermarkt.com official website updated last Friday.

As per Research Gate official website, the overall trend of market value follows the trend of team performance. This means that better results influence how high a player’s value will be. Chippa have had a tough start to the season, winning only one game. They occupy bottom place of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) standings, with a mere nine points from 15 games played. The side have changed coaches at least twice since Figuareido joined.

Experts argue that numerous variables affect a player’s valuation, which often serves as an estimate for potential transfer fees. These may include age, goals scored and assists. Eswatini’s lone International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)-accredited agent Dingane Maduma says it is not uncommon for a market value to fluctuate anytime.

“It is not uncommon for player valuations to fluctuate. As a key player, Figuareido’s worth is subject to various factors, including performance and coaches changes. We hope Coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi may bring change, but consistency is crucial to Justice regaining his form and value,” he shared.

Figuareido’s journey began with Denver Sundowns, where he was valued at nearly a million Emalangeni in the 2018/19 season. He then moved to Maritzburg United, where his value increased to E2.5 million during his time there from 2019 to 2021. After a period with TS Galaxy FC, his value remained steady at E2.5 million, before joining Richards Bay FC on July 1, 2023, where he was valued at E3 million.
