MBABANE – The Ingwenyama Cup Culture competing songs have been released, with some exciting changes for teams.

Msandi Kababa, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Ingwenyama Cup Culture, confirmed that the Imbali regiment will no longer be competing for ingadla this year and they have formally introduced ummiso.

“Yes, this year Imbali will be competing in ummiso as ingadla, all the teams should be glued on MVA’s social media pages to watch videos of the songs,” he said.

In the cultural competition of the Ingwenyama Cup, teams do not compete on the football field, they compete through song and dance. Each performance is a powerful expression of heritage, rhythm and pride, where voices rise to celebrate identity and unity. The first video has been uploaded on their pages as they  are used to guide participants in learning the songs, understanding their meaning and preparing to perform them with passion. Every team carries the responsibility of honouring tradition while showcasing creativity, making the competition not only about winning, but about keeping Eswatini culture alive.

In July of last year, His Majesty King Mswati III unveiled a new sponsorship package from the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) worth E15 million. This funding is to be distributed over the next three years and was announced during the 2024 Ingwenyama Cup award ceremony held in Manzini. His Majesty emphasised the importance of integrating cultural pride into the sporting landscape of Eswatini.

As the Ingwenyama Cup Culture moves forward, it is anticipated that there will be a variety of cultural activities accompanying the competition, designed to engage audiences both on and off the pitch.
