MBABANE – Done deal!
MTN Premier League giants Mbabane Swallows Captain Philiso ‘Strong’ Newman has reportedly signed on the dotted line for Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) rookies Agama FC.
The Sihlangu defender was invited by the newcomers for a three-week assessment and left the country a week ago after the club covered his air ticket costs. ‘Strong’ becomes the fourth local player to ply his trade in the rapidly improving Zimbabwe PSL.
He joins the former Nsingizini Hotspurs trio of striker Sambulo ‘Masoso’ Simelane and midfielder Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini, who are both with fellow rookies Hardrock FC and the versatile Kwakhe ‘Stopper’ Thwala, who recently joined defending champions Scottland FC.
A source close to the player noted that the Agama technical bench was so impressed by the former national Under-20 captain that they wasted no time in securing his signature.
“It is a done deal. Newman has signed a two-year contract after impressing them on his very first day of training,” the source said.
The source also alleged that the deal, which saw the former Ludzeludze Killers player join Agama, is valued at E150 000.
