LOBAMBA – His Majesty King Mswati III has called for order at playing venues.

He was speaking through Ingwenyama Cup Chairman Prince Hlangabeza. This was during a kit presentation held yesterday at Nkhanini Offices in Lobamba.

“This tournament has been layed for a long time. One questions as to what went wrong for such a violent behaviour to occur this time around. Only one team will win the title. This is a tournament that attracts tourists and such actions ruin the country’s image globally. This will have a negative effect to our tourism sector,” he remarked.

This follows the horrific scenes that were witnessed at Mavuso Sports Centre, which saw referee Celumusa Siphepho assaulted. This was during Mbabane Highlanders last 16 clash against Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Six of the final eight teams are primed for an action of scintillating football across two venues today. A mouth-watering double-header awaits the faithful at Mavuso Sports Centre, headlined by a pulsating curtain-raiser at 4pm between former kings Young Buffaloes and Mbabane Swallows.

The drama continues at 6:15pm, as two-time winners Green Mamba lock horns with last year’s runners-up, Moneni Pirates. Meanwhile, at Mayaluka Stadium in Big Bend, a potential thriller looms as Malanti Chiefs host the high-flying Manzini Sea Birds. Meanwhile, a date has yet to be confirmed for the match between Nsingizini Hotspurs and Msumpe Manchester.

As per the tournament rules, quarter-finalists are supposed to have their kits made available. They use the same kit even for semis. For finals, new kits are purchased for the teams.

“We have taken instructions from the King to dress up each team ahead of their matches,” the prince said.

The event took place before SMVAF Chief Executive Officer Khangeziwe Mabuza, SMVAF Corporate Executive and Controlling Officer Sam Mzileni, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) CEO Frederick Mngomezulu with Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Polycarp ‘Phoseka’ Dlamini.
