MBABANE – Revealed!

The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has announced that it expects to release tickets for the Ingwenyama Cup final with the total number strictly limited to the current capacity of Somhlolo National Stadium.

The national arena will play host to the mouth-watering and historic final between Nsingizini Hotspurs and Green Mamba scheduled for Sunday. The match, dubbed the ‘green final,’ will see the Shiselweni-based outfit competing in the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF)-sponsored tournament for the first time, while the Correctional Services side will be looking to claim a third title.

The final is expected to be graced by His Majesty King Mswati III, government officials, the royal family and the nation at large. PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat ‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati revealed that they will release tickets not exceeding the 7 500 seating capacity of the stadium to ensure effective crowd control.

Notably, on this day, culture finalists also perform. The tournament is known for the flawless fusion of football and culture.

“We are projecting that the tickets will not exceed the capacity of the stadium, which is 7 500,” the former PLE Chief Operations Officer (COO) said.

He also stated that the Polycarp Dlamini-led organisation will be in a position to announce the exact number of tickets after reports suggested that the temporary stands may not be removed. Government installed the temporary stands at the area known as ‘no-man’s land’ for the King’s recent celebration of 40 years on the throne and his 58th birthday.

Sources have revealed that the stands will only be removed after the final in a bid to give supporters the opportunity to watch the day’s festivities comfortably. “We are yet to inspect the stadium, but the issue of the stands not being removed is new to me,” Vilakati added.

Vilakati further revealed that tickets will be priced at E50 and urged supporters as well as the public to purchase them early to avoid missing out on the showpiece. The final between ‘Insingizi Yezulu’ and ‘Inyoka Eluhlazane’ will be preceded by the decider between Young Buffaloes and Manzini Wanderers in the women’s football category, as well as the cultural competitions before the King.

It is worth noting that Nsingizini reached the final after defeating Young Buffaloes, while Green Mamba brushed aside Manzini Sea Birds in the semi-finals which were played at the Mavuso Sports Centre.
