MBABANE – Eswatini’s reigning regional netball champions Royal Flames launch their COSANA Club Championships title defence tomorrow at Harare’s Sunrise Sports Club in Belvedere.
Having conquered the region in Namibia last year by defeating Zimbabwe Defence Force (ZDF) Queens in a thrilling final, the Eswatini giants arrive as the team to beat. Southern Africa’s elite netball clubs will battle for regional supremacy from Thursday July 16, until next Monday.
The prestigious tournament is open strictly to the top-qualifying senior men’s and women’s clubs from their respective domestic leagues across the Southern African region.
The contenders have been split into two groups. The defending champions find themselves in the five-team Group B, alongside Zambia’s NAPSA Netball Club, Zimbabwe’s Makate High Flyers, Lesotho Police and Kitwe Rifles.
Meanwhile, a formidable six-team Group A is headlined by Zimbabwean host outfits Chapungu and Harare City. They are joined by Zambian pair Green Buffaloes and Green Eagles, alongside Lesotho Correctional and Namibia Correctional.
