MBABANE- The Eswatini trio are now aware of their swimming schedule as they prepare to take to the pool at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games will today be officially opened by His Majesty King Charles alongside Queen Camilla, with competitions getting underway tomorrow (July 22, 2026). Boxing and swimming are the only early sports the country will be competing in.

According to the schedule, local swimmers are set to take to the pool on Saturday after arriving in Scotland on Tuesday. According to a schedule shared by Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) Chief Executive Officer Nozipho Mahlalela, two swimmers will be competing in the freestyle events.

Hayle Hoy and Damien De Sousa will compete in the sessions that will start at 10:30 am and end at lunchtime. Hoy will make her Commonwealth Games debut in the 200m freestyle event, while De Sousa will make a splash in the 50m freestyle event.

Meanwhile, Siwakhile Dlamini will be in the pool on Sunday, where she is set to compete in the 100m freestyle event. Hoy and De Sousa will be back in the pool for their final events of the competition, while Dlamini will have her last one on Tuesday.

After arriving on Tuesday, the swimmers, under the guidance of coach Ndumiso Khoza, have been training.

On another note, at the time of compiling this report yesterday around 3:00 pm, the boxing team, which comprises two athletes, was yet to receive its official schedule. Additionally, yesterday the Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, attended the ministers’ meeting ahead of the grand opening event today. Later this week, the athletics team will also be leaving, followed finally by judo.

Hayley Hoy – 200m Freestyle

 ⁠Damien De Sousa- 50 Freestyle

Sunday 26 July: 10:30am – 12:45pm

Siwakhile Dlamin – 100m Freestyle

Damien De Sous -50m Breast stroke 

Hayley Hoy – 100m Butterfly

Tuesday July 23: 10:30am – 1:15pm

Siwakhile Dlamini – 50m Freestyle
