MBABANE – Following an eight-month vacancy, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has officially unveiled Nqobile Simelane as its new Brand and Marketing Manager.

The former Nedbank employee was unveiled during a media briefing at Sigwaca House yesterday by PLE Chairman Polycarp Dlamini, alongside Executive Committee member Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli and Football Manager Banele ‘Dingz’ Masondo.

The chairman announced that Simelane has been appointed on a two-year contract to fill the vacancy left by Lindokuhle Mthupha, who tendered her resignation in December last year.

“This is the PLE’s new Marketing Manager, Ncobile Simelane, who brings vast experience to the role, having previously worked for Nedbank, Meat Wholesalers and Coca-Cola, to name a few,” Dlamini said.

He noted that local football requires professionals of Simelane’s calibre who understand the commercial dynamics of corporate sponsorship.

“We all know that football relies on commercial backing, and this role demands someone who will effectively manage relationships with sponsors who expect a return on their investment,” he said.

The former Mbabane Midas City player revealed that Simelane’s primary mandate is to secure sponsors for vacant tournament slots, including the Top 8 and the EswatiniBank Cup, as well as securing a title sponsor for the National First Division (NFD) League Cup.

“We are confident that she will elevate the PLE brand and strengthen our existing corporate partnerships,” he added.

For her part, Simelane stated that she fully grasps the responsibilities entrusted to her by the PLE executive. “The main focus will be building strong partnerships and generating commercial revenue for the PLE,” she said.

She further noted that her key objective as she assumes office is to elevate the PLE brand through transparent engagement with all partners and sponsors.

It is worth noting that Simelane brings 20 years of experience in integrated marketing communications having worked across diverse sectors and with leading organisations including Ogilvy Johannesburg, Nedbank, Eswatini Beverages, Eswatini Building Society and Coca-Cola.
