MBABANE- Clubs have the right to buy or sell their businesses, according to EFA president Peter Simelane, provided licensing rules are followed.

Simelane was speaking after the Eswatini Football Association Annual General Meeting at Hilton Garden Inn earlier today, where he addressed questions surrounding club ownership.

The EFA president declined to comment specifically on the Manzini Wanderers transaction, saying such deals were private matters between the individuals involved.

“I cannot respond to that question because purchases are between individuals. People have a right to buy or sell a club, just like in business you can sell or buy your business,” said Simelane.

He said EFA’s responsibility was to ensure that clubs complied with the association’s club licensing requirements.

“What we follow on as EFA is that every club must adhere to the club licensing rules. Every team has a right to do that,” he said.

His comments come as Wanderers enter a new chapter, with information gathered indicating that the sale of the club has been concluded.

However, the submission of the new name missed the required deadline, meaning the club is expected to face Green Mamba on Tuesday trading as Red Rhinos, with the official listing appearing as Wanderers (Rhinos).

Meanwhile, Red Rhinos director Ngudze Mamba said the club had done everything required and was ready to play Green Mamba on Tuesday, while awaiting the necessary EFA approval.

Wanderers Communications Manager Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini also expressed confidence that the team would take the field.

He said the club remained positive and would await the necessary confirmation from both EFA and the Premier League of Eswatini.

The developments have brought the EFA club licensing framework into focus, as Wanderers work through the final administrative processes ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Green Mamba.
