MBABANE – The Municipal Council of Mbabane, in partnership with the local Motorcycle Club, +268 hosted their first successful rally at the Prince of Wales on Saturday.

The Motor Cycle Club’s inaugural rally was honoured by a representative from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Queeneth Masuku, who delivered a speech on the minister’s behalf, said it was a pleasure to welcome all the bikers in the vibrant city to experience the warm kingdom. “ As we gather on this inaugural rally hosted by the Plus 28 Bikers Club, the ministry extends a very warm welcome, heartfelt welcome, to all local, regional and international riders who have roared into our beautiful capital City of Mbabane,” she said.

The ministry’s representative also added that the day’s gathering was about far more than the incredible machinery, the crow and the unmistakable sound of powerful engines echoing through the mountain valleys. “Biking culture teaches us invaluable lessons about focus, safety, mutual respect and camaraderie.

“When riders move in formation, they demonstrate teamwork and synchronisation that we can all learn from. We have a main teamwork. As a ministry responsible for urban governance, infrastructure and the vitality of our cities, we view vibrant clubs and community organisations as essential partners in urban life,” she said.

The Mayor of the City of Mbabane, Thulani Mkhonto also delivered remarks touching on how the city had come alive in a truly unique and exhilarating way.

“To the +268 Bikers Club: Thank you. Thank you for choosing Mbabane as your home for this landmark inaugural rally. You have officially added an incredible burst of colour, energy and unmistakable excitement to our annual municipal calendar. There is nothing quite like the collective roar of engines echoing through our valleys to signal that Mbabane is vibrant, open for business and alive with lifestyle tourism,” said the mayor.

The President of the 268 Club, The Duke, when making his remarks said that the club had not only gathered for entertainment purposes, but to also give back to the community. “I would like to thank each and every one of you guys who have supported our first rally, as the funds from all the ticket sales made her today will be used to give back to Charity across the country. One of the organisations we have partnered with include the Helping hand foundation. We have also committed to giving at least 150 inmates daily necessities,” said the president.
