MBABANE — Excitement has reached a fever pitch across the kingdom as viral cultural sensation Mavusane Cyzweh, widely known as Butsegetsege, officially confirms his highly anticipated arrival in Eswatini this coming October 3.
The dynamic performer is slated to headline the much-talked-about Kagogo Weekend event hosted at The Destination – SZ. Confirming his appearance, he commented on the Facebook page, “See you there maSwati akitsi”.
Known for his magnetic stage presence and energetic dance style that has dominated regional social media timelines, Butsegetsege’s cross-border appearance marks a major highlight on the local entertainment calendar. Butsegetsege gained a following after trending videos on TikTok of him dancing the Swati traditional dance in a different style during a traditional event hosted in South Africa, and the public got excited about how flexible his body is when his foot hits the ground while dancing. The videos that trended were when he was dancing and leading the songs, ‘Umtsakatsi abe munye eveni’ and ‘Kuyokhala Butsegetsege Embhedzeni’, where his stage name came about. Since then, he has been getting bookings and being called to interviews in South Africa.
Beyond the headlining performance, the Saturday showcase promises a rich tapestry of local heritage. The programme features traditional Sibhaca dance displays to champion Eswatini’s deep-rooted customs alongside a vibrant food market, flea-market stalls and a dedicated TikTok content creator corner. This integration of digital media and indigenous traditions aims to give local creatives a prominent platform to showcase the kingdom’s vibrant lifestyle to a broader audience. Fans can expect to dance with ‘Butsegetsege’ and his favourite dance moves.
