MBABANE – Sakha Live FM, Eswatini’s newest licensed Free-to-Air commercial radio station, has appointed veteran broadcaster and media executive Wilson B. Nkosi as Chairman of its newly constituted Board of Directors.
Nkosi’s appointment took effect on October 1, 2026, as the station moves into its next phase of corporate governance, operational readiness and commercial development.
The appointment brings one of South Africa’s most recognisable broadcasting personalities into the leadership of the new station.
Nkosi has a broadcasting career spanning four decades and was part of the pioneering team of broadcasters involved in the launch of Radio Metro in 1986.
Beyond broadcasting, he founded Wilson B. Nkosi Communications in 1995 and has worked with leading advertising and communications agencies across Africa.
His contribution to the media industry has earned him several honours, including a Metro FM Music Awards Long Service Award and a GQ Lifetime Achievement Award.
Having grown up and attended school in Eswatini, Nkosi brings extensive broadcasting experience, commercial media knowledge and creative leadership to Sakha Live FM as the station develops its identity, audience and commercial operations.
Commenting on his appointment, Nkosi said he accepted the responsibility with humility and looked forward to contributing to the station’s growth.
“Our immediate priority will be to establish a strong corporate governance foundation that supports accountability, sustainability and the long-term success,” he said.
Nkosi will be joined on the newly constituted Board by Princess Sakhizwe Dlamini, Tom Lin, Mlibatisi Sibusiso Kunene and Zanele Nyawo.
Princess Sakhizwe, who leads the Imbali Regiment and serves as a member of the Royal Commission, brings experience in culture, leadership and national identity to the Board.
She is also Patron of the Made in Eswatini® Initiative.
Lin is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Destiny Group, a multidisciplinary enterprise with interests spanning events, technology, ICT, construction and business solutions.
The company has operated for 25 years, with Lin bringing entrepreneurial, operational, technology and business-development expertise to the radio station’s leadership.
Kunene is an admitted attorney specialising in commercial law, intellectual property, property law and international trade.
He holds a BCom in Economics, LLB and LLM in International Economic Law and will provide legal and regulatory expertise to the Board.
Nyawo, an accounting and tax professional, has expertise in financial management, taxation, compliance and governance.
Her appointment adds financial oversight and commercial governance expertise to the Board.
The formation of the Board comes as Sakha Live FM prepares to transition from its licensing phase towards operationalisation and commercial development.
The station, operated by Sakha Live Media Group, describes itself as a modern, youth-focused media platform intended to entertain, inform and educate while connecting audiences with opportunities.
The appointment of the Board marks a significant step in establishing the governance structures required to support the station as it prepares for its next stage of development.
