MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows Head Coach Sindiso Gama has resigned with immediate effect, citing poor working conditions that made him feel unwanted.
In a resignation letter dated October 15, 2026 and addressed to the club chairman, Gama said he no longer felt valued by the administration and believed his departure would create an opportunity for others to take the team forward.
“The working conditions are no more conducive for me; I feel unwanted in this environment,” he wrote.
He further revealed that attending daily training sessions had become difficult because salaries were unpaid and daily petrol was not provided.
Gama’s departure comes after the seven-time league champions extended their winless start to three matches with a 1-1 draw against Red Rhinos on Wednesday. The Birds had earlier drawn against Madlenya before suffering defeat to Ubombo Sugar.
The run marks a worst start for the capital city giants since 2022.
Gama joined Swallows in September 2023 as assistant coach after previously coaching First Division side Ludzeludze Killers. His appointment was announced alongside the arrival of new players, including Manqoba Vilakati, Ncomo Gina and Khayalethu Zitha, as the club sought to strengthen its squad and compete for trophies.
The coach’s exit also comes against the backdrop of the club’s financial challenges. Swallows recently appealed to supporters to contribute towards the team’s operations, highlighting the financial demands facing the institution.
Despite his resignation, Gama thanked the Swallows administration for giving him the opportunity to share and exercise his technical knowledge at the club.
He also expressed confidence that the team would recover, writing: “I know the team will turn the corner not long.”
The club is now expected to consider its next move as it seeks to stabilise the technical department and revive its league campaign.
