EZULWINI – For the first time in its history, the FNB Golf Challenge will award a substantial first prize directly to a local golfer.
The top liSwati player is set to receive E30 000, as announced at the launch of the 2025 FNB Eswatini Challenge, held yesterday at the Ezulwini Golf Course. The pre-qualifiers will run in the period July 4 – 6 while the main tournament takes centre stage from August 7-9.
The fourth edition of the tournament will see the top three emaSwati in the main event share a total prize fund of E60 000, with the second and third place local finishers receiving E20 000 and E10 000, respectively. This year also marks a change of venue, with the Challenge moving to the Ezulwini Golf Course after three successful years at Nkonyeni Lodge and Golf Estate.
FNB Eswatini has committed E2 million to the 2025 FNB Eswatini Challenge, bringing its total investment over four years to E8 million. The overall winner of the Challenge will be awarded E317 000. FNB Eswatini’s participation, under the theme, ‘Transforming Fairways and Futures: FNB’s Commitment to Golf and Development’, aligns with its 30th-anniversary celebrations of serving the Kingdom.
Thokozani ‘TK’ Dlamini, FNB Chief Executive Officer (CEO), welcomed attendees to the launch, expressing gratitude for the consistent support from His Majesty’s Government. He underscored that the 2025 FNB Eswatini Challenge is a testament to the bank’s deep-rooted presence and future commitment in the kingdom, embodying their sentiment: “Sitintile Eswatini futsi asiyindzawo’ (We are rooted in Eswatini and not going anywhere).” Dlamini highlighted how the challenge brings international and local talent together, aiding player development and elevating the standard of golf in the country, perfectly aligning with FNB’s ‘HELP’ brand promise.
He also expressed excitement about hosting the tournament at the Ezulwini Golf Course, noting it will connect the event with more emaSwati. Dlamini concluded by thanking all partners, including the Sunshine Tour, Eswatini Professional Golfers Association (EPGA), Eswatini Golfers Union (EGU), Ezulwini Golf Course, sponsors and media, anticipating this year’s Challenge will be the best to date.
