MBABANE – A new modelling competition, Miss Born A Star, is set to make its debut in Eswatini, promising to be more than just a beauty pageant festival.
Originally founded in Cape Town, South Africa, Miss Born a Star is more than just a beauty pageant. It is a movement that seeks to celebrate beauty, promote culture and empower young women to step into their purpose with confidence.
Scheduled for September 25 to 27 at Mantenga Cultural Village, the competition will have participants from five years old up to 24 years of age. The announcement of the upcoming event was made on Friday at the Eswatini Council of Arts and Culture offices.
Wakhile Dlamini, the Director of Ligcabholetfu Co-operative from LaMgabhi, Bhunya, a group behind bringing Miss Born A Star to Eswatini stated that they met with Miss Born A Star Director Vathiswa Mpoqane on Facebook.
“A global connection was made when Miss Born a Star crossed borders through social platforms, echoing the 2024 International Youth Day theme, ‘From Clicks to Progress’, Vathiswa liked our work because we post often on social media, we are not a group that only focuses on modelling, but also farming, youth flea market,” he said.
