MAFUTSENI – After a lengthy and protracted transfer saga, Eswatini international Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido has finally completed his move to Chippa United.
Reports indicate that the deal has now been finalised, with Figuareido officially putting pen to paper on a permanent deal from KwaZulu-Natal outfit, Richards Bay.
The striker was expected to make his debut for the Chilli Boys yesterday against his former club in a Betway Premiership clash at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban.
The transfer had dragged on for over two months, with the two clubs engaged in prolonged negotiations over his release.
Impeccable sources confirmed that the player was recently seen at local immigration offices sorting out his paperwork. When a foreign player moves between clubs, their work permit automatically expires, requiring them to apply for a new one with their new team.
Chippa United’s official social media platforms announced the signing yesterday, with a Facebook post welcoming the player. “We look forward to seeing him lead the line and deliver a season full of goals,” part of the caption read. He joins on a permanent deal.
Early reports suggested that Richards Bay had placed a hefty E2 million price tag on the highly-rated player’s clearance. It had been alleged that an agreement was in place for Chippa to pay the fee in instalments, but the club had reportedly delayed the first payment.
Notably, Figuareido is currently valued at E10 273 003 (€500 000) according to transfermarkt.com, a leading European website for footballing information and player valuations.
