Welcome to The Main Character, our weekly section dedicated to celebrating the trailblazers and powerful figures in the kingdom. This week, we shine the spotlight on a woman whose strategic vision is opening Eswatini’s borders to the world: Chunky Dlamini.

We chose Dlamini as our Main Character because she stands as the powerful driving force behind the promotion of Eswatini as a premier global destination.

Her ascension to the position of Head of Marketing at the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) in October 2024 marks the culmination of nearly a decade of dedicated, results-driven service to the nation’s tourism goals. With a Master of Business Administration-Strategy from the Namibia Business School and MBA-Strategy, she brings both deep-seated institutional knowledge having served as Marketing Manager from July 2016 and advanced strategic acumen to her current role.

Her leadership is directly responsible for designing the campaigns that attract visitors, preserve local heritage and boost the national economy. In all this, she is consistently the epitome of elegance and chic.

Dlamini’s impact has been highly visible throughout 2025. She has been instrumental in placing Eswatini on the regional map, notably representing the ETA at a major regional tourism event in Mpumalanga, South Africa, in August.

Furthermore, she led the highly engaging ‘Spin and Win’ competition at the Trade Fair 2025 in August, creating memorable visitor experiences that translate into positive brand recognition. Earlier in the year, her voice was key in driving the successful Easter tourism campaign in March.

Through her strategic focus and visible leadership, Dlamini is not just promoting a destination; she is defining its global brand. She exemplifies the powerful combination of education, experience and relentless dedication required to lead a national mandate in the competitive international tourism market.
