MHLUME – The Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RESCorp) continues with its major investment in grassroots football.
Yesterday, in a ceremony featuring football bigwigs led by Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Vice President Steven Horton, the company celebrated soccer as a force for good with milestones that reflect their journey of impact – 10 years of Siyakha 1 800 and three years of the Sakhelene League.
The RESCorp Siyakha 1800 Programme is a youth football development and community service initiative, with a primary focus of promoting and developing football, especially among the youth in the Lubombo Region. The programme is run in partnership with the Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) and the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and the sponsorship covers multiple levels of the sport. In yesterday’s festivities, LRFA was represented by newly-elected Chairman Lucky Dlamini.
According RESCorp, these flagship programmes have become pillars of youth empowerment and unity across RESCorp’s fence-line communities. To keep the momentum going, RESCorp yesterday committed to a combined E400 000 for Siyakha and Sakhelene – bringing their total investment to an inspiring E2.3 million to date. Managing Director (MD) Nick Jackson revealed the figures before excited guests yesterday.
