MBABANE – The stage is set for a monumental CAF Champions League clash this coming Sunday, as Simba SC prepare to host Nsingizini Hotspurs.
The two sides face off in the decider of the Second Preliminary Round, which is the last hurdle before the group stages of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) premier club tournament.
Reports from Dar es Salaam confirm that the 60 000-seater Benjamin Mkapa Stadium has been completely sold out, showing the immense anticipation for the tie.
The latest development was communicated through Simba’s official Facebook page, which has up to 2.7 million followers.
With three days still to go until the whistle blows, the frenzy around the match has reached fever pitch, leaving not a single seat available at the iconic venue.
Nsingizini Hotspurs face an unenviable task, heading into the intimidating cauldron, hoping to overturn a substantial 0-3 deficit suffered at Somhlolo National Stadium in the first leg. The Eswatini envoys will require nothing short of a miracle against a star-studded Simba side bolstered by recent international recognition.
The high demand for tickets saw prices starting from 5 000 Tanzania Shillings (equivalent to E35) for general admission. VIP tickets were set at double that amount, while the most exclusive seats cost six times the value of a general ticket.
Adding further momentum to the Simba camp is the news of significant continental accolades. Captain Shomari Kapombe has been nominated for the prestigious CAF Inter-Club Player of the Year award, a major boost for the team’s morale.
Furthermore, Simba SC themselves have received a nomination for CAF Club of the Year, underlining their status as one of Africa’s premier sides.
