MBABANE – Urgent appeal.
The Eswatini National Netball Association (ENNA) is issuing a pressing request to businesses, organisations and well-wishers to sponsor the Men’s National Netball Team’s participation in the upcoming Africa Netball Cup.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Lilongwe, Malawi, from December 8-13, 2025. Last year, the men’s team made history in their maiden participation, securing silver medals following a defeat to neighbours, South Africa.
The appeal for support has been issued by ENNA’s Secretary General (SG), Nkabinde Shabalala, who noted that last year’s feat positioned the kingdom as a rising power in men’s netball on the continent.
“Despite the team’s dedication and potential, financial support is urgently needed to cover essential expenses such as flight tickets, accommodation, meals, participation fees, insurance, kit, tracksuits, t-shirts and trainers,” Shabalala said. “ENNA estimates that about E500 000 is required to ensure the team’s successful participation in the tournament.”
He further stated that a podium finish in this year’s edition could earn the country an automatic qualification for the first-ever Men’s Netball World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Sydney, Australia, in 2027.
“Sponsoring the Men’s National Team offers businesses and organisations a unique platform to demonstrate their commitment to youth empowerment, sports development and national pride,” the SG added. “Sponsors will gain visibility through various media outlets and at the tournament, aligning their brand with a team representing excellence and ambition.”
