MANTABENI – A Jericho priest reportedly took his own life after losing E15 000 while gambling.
According to gathered information, Daniel Cindzi lost E15 000 in gambling a few days after receiving his share of E40 000 from the sale of a homestead situated at Nkwalini Zone 2.
It is understood that the homestead was sold by the master of the High Court, following the death of Cindzi’s wife last year.
It has been reported that E40 000 of the estate was distributed among Cindzi’s children, while the remaining funds were used to settle outstanding rates at the Municipal Council of Mbabane.
Prior to his death, Cindzi, who had a history of gambling, reportedly went gambling and spent part of his share of the estate with the assistance of a relative.
Cindzi’s lifeless body was discovered by his daughter, Ayanda, alongside two relatives.
They found him lying dead next to his garden during a search after he went missing from the homestead, where he lived with his daughter and grandchildren. It is said that the man of God was last seen around 9pm on Sunday.
On Monday, his family reportedly found the door to Cindzi’s house wide open, giving the impression that he had left the residence since he was engaged in fencing work.
However, the family noted that the day was far spent without his return.
They said: “We tried calling him, but his cellphone rang unanswered. People began asking about his whereabouts because they could not reach him on his mobile. We thought he might have gone to pray at the mountain, as he often did, but we were confused because his church gowns and snuff were still in the house. We then raised an alarm and started searching for him.”
According to a family member, yesterday morning, around 7am, Cindzi’s daughter and two other relatives discovered his body next to the garden.

Events leading to Cindzi’s death, according to his family

The couple had a patrimonial homestead at Mantabeni.
The death of his wife resulted in the estate being reported to the master of the High Court for the distribution of the property, which Cindzi was required to share with his children.
It has been reported that the sale of the property was facilitated by one of Cindzi’s children, as he was eager to receive the payment. Following the sale, it is said that Cindzi received a share of E40 000, while his children shared their mother’s share. Additionally, E12 000 was used to settle remaining rates at the Mbabane Municipality.

Gambling a liar, offers false hope – psychologist
MBABANE – Clinical Psychologist Ndoniyamanzi Mdlalose has likened gambling to a liar that constantly offers false hope, leading to the destruction of families and the loss of income.
In an interview yesterday, Mdlalose stated that, in her opinion, gambling should be banned in the country because it is an addictive behaviour that is difficult to cease. She explained that a common trait among gamblers is that they often spend their last cent, still believing they can make more money.
