MBABANE – “The infighting is affecting us indirectly and has an impact on the team.”
These were the words of Mbabane Highlanders Head Coach Ernest Mavuso during the MTN Premier League pre-match briefings held at Sigwaca House yesterday.
Inkunzi’emnyama will face Young Buffaloes in a highly-anticipated ‘Y’ello Sunday’ fixture scheduled for the Mavuso Sports Centre this Sunday. This match will precede another mouth-watering fixture between Moneni Pirates and Mbabane Swallows, kicking off at 3:45pm.
The former Green Mamba gaffer was responding to questions regarding the internal conflicts currently facing the club, as some supporters have reportedly been seen backing teams playing against the ‘Bull’.
He conceded that while the unrest affects them indirectly, it still has a negative impact on the players. “I wish that it is sorted soon,” Mavuso pleaded.
Turning his attention to the game against Amathole’zinyathi, the former Moneni Pirates coach admitted that the 2025/26 season has not been good for his team and acknowledged that the upcoming match will be tough. “We are still preparing because Buffaloes are a strong team, but only 90 minutes will tell who bags the three points,” he said.
He then urged the supporters to rally behind the team and avoid putting pressure on the players, especially as they have prepared for maximum points. “We are not in a good position and we will be beefing up the squad,” he added, hinting at future reinforcements.
